For over a century, Craigendarroch has occupied a special place in the history of Royal Deeside.

The Keiller family built the main house on the resort as a weekend retreat in 1891. The development of Craigendarroch Lodges in the grounds of the Estate saw the first lodge occupied in June 1985 with 92 lodges complete by 1990. In 2000 the privately owned Darrochshiel House and land was purchased, this property was developed to a spacious country home (sleep 8) and an additional 6 lodges were built on the land taking the total number of lodges to 99.

All guests have access to the Country Club facilities including swimming pools, play park, squash, snooker, tennis, the Keiller Lounge, Keiller Brasserie and The House spa.

A true gem, located within the Cairngorms National Park, surrounded by stunning scenery, overlooking the River Dee, a 10 minute walk from the picturesque Victorian village of Ballater and 8 miles from Balmoral Castle.

Ballater is famous for its royal connections and a number of shops and businesses display Royal warrants.

Our local activities page takes you to a variety of things to do in the area – like the popular Seven Bridges walk, a beautiful waymarked circular walk explores some of the fine countryside around the town of Ballater. The route described includes an optional detour to the ruins of Knock Castle, a sixteenth century tower house.
